Day 3 - Jeffrey's bay

Today I woke up at 9.30. We had some nice breakfast with yoghurt and homemade cake made by Daphne.
After breakfast Anneke and Thijmen went to PE to rent a car. Eva and I stayed at Peter and Daphnes home and met their grandchildren. When Thijmen and Anneke were back with a car we went to Jeffrey's Bay. We went there with Denise and Tara, two other volunteers from another project who came to visit PE. Jeffrey's bay is known for it's waves so it's very popular place for surfers.
While Thijmen, Anneke and Natasja were exploring the area around Jeffrey's Bay, we were laying on the beach watching some handsome surfers ;)
Later we drove home and had a delicious meal made by Daphne!! We ate outside in their garden in a lovely romantic setting. It was a very special dish, her pancakes failed so she improvised a kind of lasagne with it. At dinner, Peter told me something. I asked him why volunteering work was important for their foundation. What he responded was: '' You are the ambassadors of the project, you give the children the love they never experienced from their parents and you tell their story. They can't tell their own story so you do it, that's what makes it important. If you don't stand up for them and tell their story, who else is going to?''
So this got me even more motivated to visit and work at the project on Tuesday.
Tomorrow we'll go to church, I heard a lot of stories about people getting dressed very fancy and a lot of singing so I can't wait to go there!
